Are you confident, friendly and articulate and would like to act as an ambassador for Birkbeck? Do you want a career in the third sector after you graduate? Or are you looking for fundraising experience?

Birkbeck’s Development and Alumni Team are looking for student telephone fundraisers for their Summer Telephone Campaign. The position involves contacting Birkbeck alumni over the telephone to build and maintain a strong relationship with our graduates, to inform them about our alumni engagement activities and current philanthropic projects, and inspire them to support them by giving a donation.

Fundraising experience is not required but knowledge of Birkbeck and an understanding and passion for the cause is essential to convey our messages professionally and with confidence.

The benefits to you:

  • A compelling addition to your CV.
    • A fun and supportive working environment.
    • Flexible working conditions around your studies.
    • Excellent rates of pay.
    • Valuable skills in communication, leadership, negotiation, marketing and teamwork.
    • An opportunity to give back to Birkbeck and support fellow students.
    • Invitation to remain on the team for the duration of your course (dependent on performance).

Recruitment will take place in 2 stages:

STAGE 1: Written application and voicemail submission. To complete the voicemail stage, please call 0843 557 0048 and leave a voicemail message.

State your full name, student ID number and read the following paragraph:

'Alumni donations make an immediate impact on the life of the College, by funding areas that will benefit current and future generations of students and make Birkbeck an even better place to study. The response so far has been fantastic, with around half of those spoken to deciding to give. The College would love you to help us with our campaign. Are you happy to make a gift of £10 a month?'

Hang up once you have left the voicemail. The deadline for applications and voicemail submissions is midnight, Sunday 7 October 2018.

    STAGE 2: Invitation to interview – w/c 15 October 2018
