Join Birkbeck as a Student Advisor and make a difference in students' university experiences. Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a full-time, permanent Student Advisor to start this Spring 2025.
As a Student Advisor, within the Student Advice hub, you will be at the forefront of student support, offering guidance on a wide array of issues to enhance their academic journey.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Provide comprehensive advice and guidance to students on various queries, both in-person and online
- Lead as the financial advice expert for student funding queries, including liaising with internal and external agencies
- Serve as the initial contact for financial, registry, and other student services
- Maintain accurate client case notes and adhere to quality standards
- Collaborate with academic and administrative staff to resolve student issues
- Participate in team meetings and training for continuous professional development
- Support and present at student orientation and open evening events.
We are looking for a Student Advisor who:
- Has a detailed knowledge of university services, procedures, and regulations
- Understands UK HE funding policies, or is keen to learn
- Has excellent communication and listening skills, and competent IT skills
- Has experience in a customer-facing role, particularly in advice and guidance, and be committed to providing an excellent student experience (even during demanding, high-volume busy periods) and deal empathically and professionally with students who can be emotional.
Evening and weekend work may be required as service demands.

Salary and benefits:
£30,803 to £34,346 per annum. Grade 4 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract:
