Research Assistant

Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a fixed-term, part-time Research Assistant to join the School of Creative Arts, Culture and Communication this Summer 2025. 

As Research Assistant you will be responsible for a new project on the impact of fertility treatment on Birkbeck staff, with the aim of informing policies to better support employees undergoing treatment.

The research explores how fertility treatment affects mental health, wellbeing, and work-life balance in the workplace.

Main duties will include:

• June 2025: Join the project, assist with survey data collection, and conduct preliminary analysis,
• July 2025: Take part in Workshop 1,
• August 2025: Take part in Workshop 2,
• January 2026: Help draft the final research report.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Experience with data analysis,
• Strong report writing skills,
• Ability to collaborate in a research environment.

Salary and benefits:

£19.50 per hour,  Grade 6 of the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance that applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.

Contract:

Fixed-term, 1 June - 31 January 2026 contract. Part-time working 60 hours across duration of the project. Flexibility and home working offered. Attendance is needed for two, in-person workshops.
