Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to manage, develop and implement the University's quality assurance and enhancement framework.
This new role is based within an expanding Quality Team within Academic Standards and Quality (part of the new Education and Student Experience Directorate) and you would work closely with academic and professional service colleagues across Birkbeck.
As the Quality Manager (Assurance and Enhancement), you will:
- Manage and develop Birkbeck’s current academic quality assurance framework, including module and programme approval and amendment, periodic reviews and quality monitoring, and the management of external examiners and other external subject specialists.
- Support the maintenance of academic regulatory, policy and governance arrangements, including undertaking regulatory and policy review and acting as secretary to committees and sub-committees as determined by the Head of Academic Standards and Quality.
- Provide advice and guidance on quality assurance systems and processes so they operate effectively and efficiently.
- Provide regular updates and develop and deliver training to staff across the institution in matters pertaining to academic quality and standards.
To be successful in the role of Quality Manager (Assurance and Enhancement) you will:
- Have experience in managing quality assurance and enhancement in higher education, particularly data-driven approaches to quality.
- Have the ability to manage complex workloads, working with staff at all levels to ensure centrally agreed policy is implemented and adopted fairly and consistently across all faculties and schools.
- Have excellent oral and written skills with the ability to produce clear policies, procedures reports and presentations and convey complex information with confidence.
- Be proactive in identifying areas for development and enhancement.
- Be comfortable working with and advising staff at all levels across the institution.

Salary and benefits:
£43,265 to £49,324 per annum, (rising to £43,636 - £49,683 from March 2025), Grade 7 of the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance that applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.

Contract:
