Birkbeck, University of London has recently partnered with University of London Worldwide (UoLWW) to develop a series of online Masters programmes, aimed at both domestic and international audiences, specifically the postgraduate adult, professional, part-time learner. This includes an MSc programme in Computer Science based in the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems.

The Department aims to recruit a Director to lead on the development of this programme, to convene online modules, provide academic oversight post-launch, and manage a teaching team and administration processes. As a core member of our academic staff you will also contribute to the full range of activities within the department including a strong research culture, face-to-face teaching, administration, knowledge transfer, and public engagement.

To apply for this role, you will be an academic with a PhD in computer science or a closely related domain.

Moreover, you will:

- be committed to excellence in teaching and education,

- have a strong interest in impact generating and public engagement activities, and

- able to work collegially, with strong interpersonal, organisational and administration skills, in order to effectively manage teaching teams.

You will ideally have online teaching experience, and experience in design, delivery and convening of courses preferably at postgraduate level.

You will also ideally have an understanding of Birkbeck, our principles of widening participation in higher education, and working with mature age, part time, and non-traditional learners from a diversity of backgrounds.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to give a presentation as well as attend an interview online for the post.

Remuneration:

The Lecturer grade of the College's London Pay Scale which is £38,594 to £53,342 per annum.

The salary quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
