This role is crucial to ensuring the secure and efficient operation of our IT infrastructure. It is an exciting opportunity to be part of an essential function within Birkbeck – to provide for both the development of new Windows and Linux infrastructure as well as the ongoing secure and efficient operation of existing infrastructure.

You will report to the Infrastructure Manager, as well as indirectly to the Infrastructure Architect. Whilst this is a technical role, there will be engagement with customers, and customer service and quality management are essential to the successful delivery of this role.

As an IT Infrastructure Engineer, you should have:

  • Extensive experience with server and storage technologies in a VMWare environment
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux security standards
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools like PowerShell and Ansible
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with various stakeholders.

If you are interested in roles such as Network Engineer, Systems Administrator, Cloud Engineer, IT Support Specialist, or DevOps Engineer, you might find this position at Birkbeck to be a perfect fit for your skills and career aspirations. Join us in making a difference in the lives of our students and staff.
