Are you ready to drive innovation and create impactful partnerships that shape the future of higher education? Birkbeck, University of London, is looking for a Innovation Business Development Manager to start this Autumn 2024. 

As our new Innovation Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the University's innovation and commercialisation strategy, focusing on income growth and diversifying revenue streams.

In this dynamic position, you will identify and develop high-potential opportunities that align with our strategic goals. Your mission is to foster engagement with external organisations, unlocking new avenues for our short courses, executive training, consultancy and lifelong learning initiatives.

Based in our new Innovation Support Unit, this role will be at the forefront of forging relationships with key sectors, identifying funding opportunities, and ensuring our services reach new audiences.

As our Innovation Business Development Manager you will:

  • Build and maintain a strong network of commercial clients and stakeholders, driving a continuous pipeline of opportunities.
  • Lead and manage key projects, negotiating competitive terms, and developing lasting partnerships.
  • Identify and secure funding for innovative projects, preparing bids and proposals that advance our College’s objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of our regional, national, and international innovation strategies.

What We’re Looking For:

  • You will bring a deep understanding of the commercial education landscape and have a proven track record in building senior-level networks.
  • Your excellent project management, analytical, and bid-writing skills will be key to your success in this role.
  • You will also need to be proactive, a self-starter, and capable of working independently to deliver under pressure.

Salary and benefits:

£50,645 rising to £59,454 per annum. (From March 2025 rising to £50,999 to £60,018). Grade 8 of the College's London Pay Scale which includes a London Weighting Allowance.

Contract:
