Digital Education Consultant

Birkbeck Digital Education is looking for a talented, forward-thinking person to join our enthusiastic team as a Digital Education Consultant. Digital Education will play an important part in making that happen by supporting colleagues to create high-quality learning experiences that work well for our students, whether they are engaging on campus, online or through more flexible modes of study.

The Digital Education team has a broad and evolving portfolio. Faculty-facing work with teachers is at the heart of the role, alongside opportunities to contribute to areas such as Moodle and module design, HyFlex teaching, digital assessment, classroom technologies, pedagogical research, media production, Immersive learning and Creative AI. The postholder will join a supportive and forward-looking team at an exciting point in the development of Digital Education at Birkbeck. This is an opportunity to take on an established faculty-facing role while also contributing to new and developing areas of work that will shape learning and teaching across the University.

You would be primarily but not exclusively academic faculty facing, working collaboratively with teaching and support staff in the Faculty of Business and Law as well as colleagues across the Digital Education team. The role would suit someone who enjoys building relationships, understanding local priorities and translating ideas about digital education into practical support for staff and students.

In practice, your work could involve consulting with staff on module design, developing learning materials, running  workshops and developing guidance to managing a project and helping shape Moodle tools and enhancements. We are looking for someone adaptable, communicative and enthusiastic who brings a strong understanding of Digital Education, is confident working with a range of colleagues and is keen to contribute ideas across our varied and ambitious portfolio of work.

At Birkbeck we have a flexible working policy, however, we would expect you to be resident in the UK and able to attend our campus at least once per week and when necessary to support our staff and to attend meetings.

Salary and benefits 

£44,247 rising to £50,379 per year, Grade 7 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.
