Working closely with academic and administrative staff, you will design, develop, and deliver innovative digital education solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and assessment across the University. This role is offered on a 12 month fixed term, maternity cover, full-time (35 hours a week) with a salary of £44,247, rising to £50,379 per year.
As Digital Education Consultant, you will act as the primary contact for expert advice on blended learning, support the implementation of our new Digital Education Strategy, and lead initiatives that build digital capability among staff and students. You would be primarily, but not exclusively, academic faculty facing (Humanities and Social Sciences), working collaboratively with teaching and support staff in that faculty as well as the rest of the Digital Education team.
As Digital Education Consultant, you will:
- Provide educational advice and support for technology-enhanced learning.
- Deliver staff development workshops and curriculum design sessions.
- Monitor and evaluate online learning quality using Birkbeck Baseline standards.
- Design and promote new e-learning services aligned with institutional strategy.
- Contribute to digital education policy development and ensure compliance with accessibility and copyright legislation.
To succeed as Digital Education Consultant, you will demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of VLEs (preferably Moodle) and key HE technologies (eg, Panopto, Turnitin).
- Experience applying curriculum design frameworks for blended and online learning.
- Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to build interactive content and deliver engaging training sessions.
Birkbeck has made rapid progress transforming all modules are taught using the ‘Birkbeck Blend’, and we have equipped our teaching estate with HyFlex technology. We are carrying out pioneering work in Immersive learning and associated pedagogies in our new Immersive Learning Centre, and we'll soon be responsible for a Centre for Creative AI. Therefore, there's lots of opportunities for you to get involved in exciting new areas whilst you are with us.
Your working day might involve consulting with staff on module design, developing learning materials, running a workshop, managing a project or even designing a Moodle plugin, so you will need to be adaptable, communicative, enthusiastic and knowledgeable in the field.

Salary and benefits
From £44,247, rising to £50,379 per annum, Grade 7 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract:
