We have an opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to support the module in:
- Volcanism in the Solar System, Level 6
- 30 hours
- Tuesday evenings 6-9pm
You will have knowledge of volcanic processes and products applicable to Earth and/or to other planets, have experience of teaching relevant topics, including practical classes, and be qualified to the corresponding level of the award as required to teach (or demonstrate equivalent professional/industry level experience).
This module covers topics such as heat and melting in planets, the physics and chemistry of volcanic processes, rheology, eruption styles, products and associated landforms, the controls of planetary conditions on eruptive processes and products, the record of volcanism on Earth, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Io and icy bodies (cryovolcanism).
It includes practical classes with analogue experiments, petrological study, and satellite data analysis. You will be jointly responsible for the security of any relevant extra-terrestrial samples.

Remuneration:
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College, starting rate £69.68 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay, for contact hours worked.
This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
