Are you passionate about the ethics, voices, the historic and political development of media technologies and practices? Do you understand the techniques of digital video production and web-based writing? If it is your passion to teach Video Editing, Birkbeck, University of London, has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Lecturer.

As Associate Lecturer you will teach the module:

Principles of Digital Video and Editing
• 36 hours in total
• 12 teaching days

You will have knowledge of digital video production and editing and experience in using DaVinci Resolve and Filmic Pro, and be qualified to the corresponding level of the award as required to teach (or demonstrate equivalent professional/industry level experience).

Further to the person specification, essential requirements for this role are:

• As well as being able to teach the technical aspects of DaVinci Resolve and Filmic Pro, you will be expected to deliver the principles of documentary making, from idea conception and pitching to storyboarding, interview design, lighting and sound.

Remuneration

Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £68.13 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5 which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course. 

Contract

Part-time, 12 month, fixed-term contract. Closing date: 11 December 2024. Interview date: 18 December 2024.
