Birkbeck, University of London, has an opportunity for an Associate Lecturer to join the teaching team and support the Law School this coming academic year from October 2026 to August 2027.
We are seeking an Associate Lecturer for the following modules:
1.) Legal Procedure (Dispute Resolution, Conveyancing and Criminal)
- Wednesdays, 6-7:30pm, in-person starting w/c 11 January 2027
- Wednesdays, 6-7:30pm, in-person starting w/c 26 April 2027
2.) Professional Legal Conduct, Technology and Accounts
- Thursdays, 6-7:30pm, in-person starting w/c 26 April 2027
As Associate Lecturer you will be responsible for delivering and developing the modules contents during the Autumn Term from 5 October – 18 December 2026 (including pre-recorded content, readings, seminar activities, assessment, etc.)
The content of both modules map on CILEX standards for training providers.
Further to the person specification, additional essential requirements for this role are:
- Qualification at Master’s level (or above)
- An LLB, LLM QLD or Law Conversion Course (i.e. has studied the 7 foundations of legal knowledge)
- Teaching Experience in HE
- Legal practice experience and/or experience delivering legal practice modules.

Remuneration:
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College, starting rate £69.68 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay, for contact hours worked.
This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
Contract:
